What is School's Out Comedy Club?
School's Out Comedy Club is an award-winning joke show for kids that's a perfect activity at your schools and youth clubs.
Creator and compere Philip Simon kicks things off with a string of family-friendly gags and then the kids take the stage and tell their own jokes (sometimes the parents too). They even work together to write their own jokes based on a subject of their choosing.
School's Out Comedy Club has been a hit at many Fringe Festivals including Edinburgh, Leicester and Morecambe, and is a great hour's entertainment for children at your school, club, party or event.

Full of silly, family-friendly jokes he is a lively comic with the ability to balance a show aimed at kids with a level of self-deprecation and parental in-jokes to keep the accompanying adults onside. His impressively wide knowledge of jokes that kids 'get' was honed during lockdown when he hosted online workshops, and his ability to quickly recall them while veering wildly between themes he had no control over meant the 45 minute show went deceptively quickly. Our own children - aged 9 and 11 - who had adamantly told us beforehand that they didn't want to volunteer for anything, surprised us by taking to the stage themselves (which goes to show how supportive they felt the environment was). They described the School's Out Comedy Club as 'great...so much fun', and we think in this case they're the experts!. They've even asked if they can go again to the next show

Philip gave a polished performance in a confident and relaxed manner putting his young audience at their ease. Using a measure of audience participation, he encouraged the children to share their favourite jokes interspersing jokes from his charity Joke book an anthology of jokes from other children. A fast-paced method that really engaged the children. This entertainment was created during the Covid lockdown to create content for a Joke Book to support “FareShare” a charity aimed at supporting vulnerable hungry families. As an educator teaching young children for over forty years, I found this an excellent show to excite and entertain young children who responded with great enthusiasm."
